Our History 1967-1979 1980-1999 2000-Now
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." (Mark 16:15).

A group of American Christians faithfully obeyed the Lord's command and crossed the Pacific Ocean to Japan on this very mission. In 1967, they founded a kindergarten in its present location at Maruyama. In those days, there were hardly any houses around, but just vast green fields with small hills scattered throughout. There also used to be many trails and historic paths around the kindergarten where the children had fun strolling about. We provide children with an environment that is rich in nature. We take advantage of the natural environment by raising a variety of animals (including small farm animals). This helps each child develop a fun and caring relationship with the school animals and teaches responsibility and concern for others as well. At a young age, children learn languages naturally. So we also provide an environment where each day the children will be taught English through play, stories, and singing. Above all, our hope is to provide an education where children can grow in their understanding and faith in Jesus as their Savior.

Our educational principles are broadly accepted by the community at large. With the birth of Izumi Park Town, one of the largest urban developments in the area, Takamori MeySen Kindergarten was founded in December 1977 as MeySen Academy's second kindergarten.

Both kindergartens have the same educational principles and objectives. The licensed quota for each school is 480 students. Since their foundation, both kindergartens have enrolled children from four years of age to elementary school entrance age, offering a two-year course for the children. With the completion of new school buildings in April 1999, MeySen Kindergarten (at Maruyama) has started a Toddlers Club (a program for three-year-olds) and a daycare program, thus meeting the needs of many parents.
